RIP Hitler Kitty

It has been exactly one month since we laid our precious Hitler Kitty to rest.  The whole family has been missing him dearly!  I just have to look at our group shot that was our “engagement photo” of our beautiful family and feel so pleased that we were able to create that shot.  It is a photo I will treasure forever, I had no idea how little time we would have left with our sweet Hitler kitty.  Although he had had a serious heart murmur for years, I am glad that his demise was so quick and sudden that he did not have to suffer for long.  He was such a low maintenance cat, making an appointment to have him put to sleep was one of the hardest things I had to do,  and knowing him, he didnt want to be any trouble or for us to fuss, he passed on his own before the appointment.

Arthur being the good partner that he is came home to help say goodbye to our favorite black and white feral kitty .  He held me and let me ball my eyes out.  I am so glad Arthur got to know my little Applebee’s dumpster kitty, Hitler loved to cuddle Arthur.  It will always make me laugh, the irony of his Applebee’s street cat name of Hitler, because of all the cats I’ve ever had, he was the sweetest, most affectionate, and accepting of other creatures.

After our cruise we have decided as a family to adopt another male cat!  Since Hilters passing the dynamics have changed around here.  He was the gentle alpha and the peacekeeper.  We are hoping this shy but playful new addition will be a good distraction for the always playful and ridiculous Neville.  New kitty is just over a year old, part bengal, cross eyed, quirky, and currently in foster care known as Panda (we have yet to settle on a new name until we get to know him better).

Although no kitty will ever replace my special Hitler kitty, this new kitty reminds me of both Hitler and Neville and we cant wait to have him become part of our furbaby family 🙂
